Looking for a REALLY spectacular tour? This one will take in the county’s capital Canberra, Australia’s Highest Mountain, Australia’s greatest river (system)….. etc This tour really has it all. Starting with an easy highway drive from Sydney to Canberra then across the Great Dividing Range past Thredbo village and Mount Kosciusko before picking up the Murray at the legendary Tom Groggin and following it (partially at first) across to Tallangatta and then Albury. That is a tour in itself.
Following the mighty Murray River eastward along the southern Riverina past Mulwala, Tocumwal, then cross it and continuing through northern Victoria and westward along the Murray Valley Highway to the Port of Echuca (A must see destination).
Continuing along the Murray Valley Highway through Gunbower, Cohuna, and Kerang, rejoining the Murray River at Swan Hill and following its course (roughly) to Robinvale. From there it is back across the Murray River to Euston and onward to Mildura and Wentworth before heading north along the Silver City highway to Broken Hill or via the Darling River to Menindee or via Lake Mungo.
